Charity:

We have raised the $10,500 to save lives in PNG!!!! - $6,283 form the raffle – Thanks you to all who put their hand in their pockets – and $2,000 was donated by Dr Flynn’s IVF company. The committee had agreed to donate the balance from event funds.

Funds raised will buy a set of surgical instruments for Mt Hagen Hospital, delivered directly by Dr. Michael Flynn - an amazing Gold Coast obstetrician who regularly gives of his time and expertise to deliver babies there. In one year, Mt Hagen Hospital handles the same number of births as all of the GC Hospitals, Tweed Hospital and Murwillumbah Hospitals put together. There are hardly any instruments, even basic sutures and women die on a daily basis.

In the course of the evening – Dr Flynn made contact with Jim Levy who is in the middle of shipping his 4th container  to Mt Hagen re medical and schooling equipment and was keen to offer space - wantoksinternational@gmail.com . He is also in contact with Ruth Pike, who has been scrounging supplies at her hospital in Sydney to send to Mt Hagen as well.
